With early footage debuting at Fantastic Fest last weekend, this week saw the appearance of the first trailer for John Dies At The End, a film which featured on Film Intel's 2012 preview. Based on the cult novel of the same name, the film sees the return of Bubba Ho-Tep director Don Coscarelli who also adapted the screenplay. The trailer, perhaps cut specifically with a Fantastic Fest audience in mind, looks decidedly darker and more violent than the synopsis of the film initially seemed to suggest, not that that makes it any less exciting. Quite the opposite in fact: this looks still to be on course for being one of the early sleeper hits of next year and the director might well be on to something with hitherto unknown duo Chase Williamson and Rob Mayes.
Trailer Of The Week is a regular Film Intel feature which picks a different tasty trailer of delectable goodness every week and presents it on Sunday for your viewing pleasure. Sometimes old, sometimes new, sometimes major, sometimes independent, sometimes brilliant, sometimes a load of old bobbins: always guaranteed to entertain.
