Everyone loves a good costume drama and, boasting a selection of accreditations from a host of film festivals, Secrets Of Lisbon looks to be exactly that. Opening in the US last week the film is the work of Raoul Ruiz, a Chilean director with a huge list of productions in his native land. The film is based on a book by Camilo Castelo Branco and the trailer presents it as one boy's search for his mysterious lineage, uncovering several competing love lives along the way. There might be one problem. Its four and half hours long. Best enjoyed in two sittings then, hey?
Trailer Of The Week is a regular Film Intel feature which picks a different tasty trailer of delectable goodness every week and presents it on Sunday for your viewing pleasure. Sometimes old, sometimes new, sometimes major, sometimes independent, sometimes brilliant, sometimes a load of old bobbins: always guaranteed to entertain. Looks fantastic, these types of films are getting increasingly rare and I can't say i've ever heard of Raoul Ruiz. Apparently it was a tv series in Chile which makes for interesting trend of TV projects being turned into films with the Red Riding trilogy, Carlos and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo all getting the same treatment.
ReplyDeleteI saw that it was a TV series and yes, that's a very interesting arc that's starting to develop. It does look gorgeous. I'm intrigued.
