Submarine comes to DVD and Blu-ray in the UK a week tomorrow. Without wanting to spoil the review of it (and therefore, inevitably, completely spoiling the review of it), it is fantastic. As good a debut as Gareth Edwards' Monsters, Richard Ayoade's film is intelligent, witty and touching. The US trailer is better than its UK counterpart and shows off the film's smart script, edgy humour, slightly unlikeable protagonist (Craig Roberts) and epically hip love interest (Yasmin Paige), as well as one of Alex Turner's (The Arctic Monkeys) original songs for the film, which the UK trailer proudly proclaims but then, bizarrely, doesn't feature. It is fantastic. Did I already mention that?
Trailer Of The Week is a regular Film Intel feature which picks a different tasty trailer of delectable goodness every week and presents it on Sunday for your viewing pleasure. Sometimes old, sometimes new, sometimes major, sometimes independent, sometimes brilliant, sometimes a load of old bobbins: always guaranteed to entertain.
