The problem with the trailer for Scream 4 (or Scre4m if you want to go down that route) is that it's very reminiscent of Scream. Which is now fourteen years old. What's changed in that time? Well... some kids have died and, apparently, videoing things to put them on the Internet has become cool. The trailer for the seriously-behind-the-times film reminds me of the one for Wes Craven's My Soul To Take from a few months ago, not a surprise considering that the horror director returned to helm this fourth entry in the franchise - his second film as director in two years, having had five years away since Red Eye. The first film in his mini-comeback was met with general antipathy in the US, perhaps because it returns to the now long dead slasher genre and doesn't really do anything new with it. What's the betting there will be some recycling of reviews come Scream 4's release date?
